We never plan our route, we go where our feet take us, today they took us through paths and roads from Blackthorpe to Rougham. Walkers, logs, gates and fences were the theme initially. A long straight track led us to a field where we glimpsed Rougham Church in the distance. Farm machinery hid in the shadows as we passed yet another gate.
We explored the detail of the church of St Mary and admired the building from many angles. Back through the lychgate with it's oddly painted stone and once again walking alongside farm fields where we met the delightful Charlie Odd-Boots. We wandered a bit more, saw machinery parked in a field, a view framed by a tree and the James Stiff cottages. Oak trees pointed the way back as a horse glanced briefly at us before it continued its grazing.
