I walked past the Rugby club and then alongside the river Lark accompanied by bird song. Into the Abbey gardens with its posing squirrels and colourful flowers. Past the Holocaust teardrop memorial and into an almost empty town centre. Post offices old and new as we made our way through to the Ark shopping centre with its unusual Debenhams building.
On into Kings road and the cemetery, which has none of the magic of Margate or churchyard cemos. At this point I had to retrace my steps as I realised I had lost my sleeveless fleece which had been draped over my bag, so back past St Peters Church and then the Nutshell PH as I made my way back to the Abbey Gardens. I didn't find it.
Home through No man's Meadow as I finished a longer walk than planned, past cows in the meadow and the Bury St Edmund's rugby club memorial tribute to players who died in an air crash in 1974.
